The important weekly cannabis updates for California are in. We have news from Commerce, Cathedral City, Imperial Beach, Woodlake and the National Cannabis Industry Association Conference.

 

Commerce, CA

 The City of Commerce has finally come on board and will start accepting cannabis business applications starting October 15, 2018. Applications can only be submitted by appointment. Appointments for application submissions can be done via email.  The application and complete set of instructions can be found on the City’s website.

The City Staff will also be holding a Prospective Operators’ Workshop to provide prospective operators general information about the City of Commerce’s Commercial Cannabis Business Program. This will be held on October 11, 2018, at the Crowne Plaza Los Angeles- Commerce Casino, from 1-4pm. Registration should be done before October 10, 2018 and can be done on-line.

 

Cathedral City, CA

 The City Council is considering adopting a resolution establishing new tax rates for cannabis manufacturing. The rates for cannabis manufacturing are as follows:

Crude Concentrate (raw, unrefined extract oil): five (5) cents per gram

Distillate (winterized, filtered, and ultra-refined extract oil): ten (10) cents per gram

Exotic/Boutique Concentrate (ultra premium extract oil): forty (40) cents per gram

Imperial Beach, CA

 The City of Imperial Beach has requested the California Coastal Commission to approve their appeal to amend its Certified Zoning Ordinance (IP) Chapter 19.61 (Cannabis Facilities) to provide that the Land Use Table allow for limited commercial cannabis activities.

Woodlake, CA

 The City Council approved the Regulatory and Conditional Use Permit Ordinance 18-009 that permits cannabis manufacturing businesses in the City and would require these businesses to retain a Conditional Use Permit, Certificate of Occupancy, Business License, and Regulatory Permit prior to commencing operations.

The ordinance and commercial cannabis business permit applications can be accessed on the City’s website.

 

National Cannabis Industry Association

 The National Cannabis Industry Association is holding a conference in Anaheim, CA from October 22-23, 2018. The conference will cover “navigating the world’s largest adult-use market” and boasts 3,000 cannabis business leaders and over 100 thought leaders and policy makers in attendance.
