Welcome to another week of California cannabis headlines. This week we have updates from Mendocino County, Whittier, Contra Costa County and Culver City.

  • Mendocino County discussed cannabis cultivation and compliance in their board of supervisors meeting. The city adopted an ordinance amending the cannabis business tax. In addition, they set limits on the cultivation of cannabis while the Department of Agriculture processes cannabis cultivation permits. Read the details in the new ordinance of Mendocino County.
  • Whittier held a city council meeting to revisit the idea of allowing medical marijuana dispensaries. If the motion to limit medical marijuana dispensaries proceeds, there will be a public hearing before the City’s Planning Commission. We’ll let you know if there are any updates.
  • Contra Costa County is introducing a tax on cannabis activities. It looks like the tax will be approved on July 24, 2018 and find its way onto the ballot come this November.
  • Culver City adopted a resolution that changed how commercial cannabis business permits are allocated and the number allowed.  The adopted resolution proposes the following changes:
    • Reducing the maximum number of cultivation permits by two
    • Increasing the maximum number of manufacturing permits by one
    • Increasing the maximum number of distribution permits by one

As the city releases further details on the application process, we will keep you updated.
